The tournament offers a ticket to the global stage, as the top two teams will qualify for the 2025 World Para Volley Championships scheduled for October in the USA.
For the first time in recent years, Kenya's men’s team will have the rare opportunity to chase continental glory on home soil, something head coach Julius Juma is embracing with optimism.
“We’ve always traveled to compete elsewhere, but this time, we’re playing at home. We expect a fantastic tournament,” said Juma.
Inspired by the women’s team, which finished second behind Rwanda at the 2024 Africa Sitting Volleyball Championship in Lagos, the men’s team captained by Henry Caleb is determined to go one better.
“Training has been intense. The coaches have introduced a new system we hadn’t used before. We’ve learned it well, and we’re confident of a strong performance,” said Henry.
In the women’s category, Kenya will battle familiar rivals Rwanda and Nigeria in a three-team format.
The men’s tournament will feature two pools: Group A has Kenya, Rwanda, and Algeria; Group B includes Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Kenya’s men team begin their campaign against Algeria, while the women's team open against Nigeria.
