11 Arabian suspects from Egypt have been charged for engaging in illegal business contrary to their visa conditions.
The suspects aged between 19-35 years were arrested in Majengo and Lenana estates, Narok Town.
According to State Counsel David Mwangi, the suspects were found hawking kitchenware and seized on April 26.
They however pleaded not guilty when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Titus Gesora on Monday.
The Prosecution asked the court to allow the suspects to be taken to the Immigration Department in Nairobi to ascertain whether their visas are still valid. If not, they will be deported back to Egypt.
Lawyer Mwangi was to provide an interpreter but failed to do so forcing the case to be adjourned until May 5. The suspects are to remain in custody until then.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i recently put illegal immigrants on notice further ordering a fresh audit of all work permits for foreigners.
