11 Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers are nursing injuries at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet county following a road accident at Nyongores Bridge along the Bomet-Narok highway on Saturday evening.

According to Bomet Central sub-county police boss Musa Imamai Omar, the accident occurred when the lorry they were traveling in veered off the road and landed in a ditch while trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian crossing the highway.

The officers were attended by a paramedic traveling in another contingent vehicle before an ambulance arrived and rushed them to the hospital.

Following the incident, motorists plying the Kisii-Narok route were held up for several hours before traffic police managed to clear the snarl up.

The wrecked lorry was towed to Bomet police station for inspection.

The contingent were headed towards Narok from Bomet when the incident happened.
