Police in Bomet have launched a manhunt for a 29-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his 32-year-old uncle to death after accusing him of cohabiting with his mother.

According to Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga, the suspect, Hillary Cheruiyot Sang, ambushed his uncle, Gilbert Kiplangat Bett, stabbing him in the cheek and inflicting fatal injuries to the neck, leading to his death at the scene.

Imbwaga said the suspect’s mother, Betty Bett, attempted to intervene and defuse the situation, but her efforts were unsuccessful as her son was reportedly enraged over his uncle’s alleged behaviour.

Police officers rushed to the scene following the incident but were unable to locate the suspect, who fled immediately after the attack. The murder weapon has not yet been recovered.

The scene was processed by investigators, and the body was transferred to Kapkatet Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
