Despite harvesting a 3-0 win (25-25, 25-28, 25-12) against Nigeria in their second match of the ongoing African Games on Saturday at Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, Ghana, Malkia Strikers coach Japheth Munala feels they still have work to do.

Malkia Strikers had beaten Seychelles with a similar set margin of 3-0 in their opening match.

Munala in an exclusive interview with Citizen Digital said the next big task is to ensure service accuracy is flawless and that they have solidify their defence, a department he feels needs to be worked on.

The seasoned tactician said he is happy their systems worked against the Nigerian team as he aim to top the pool and get number four in the other pool.

Makia are scheduled to take on the stubborn DR Congo in their final match against DRC on Monday.

“We must ensure we top the pool to get to play number four in the other pool.  I was really impressed Veronica Oluoch’s display, she really was in top form in the game and it's my hope that she will maintain it the subsequent matches," said Munala, describing Oluoch as a strong killer.

Asked whether the absence of the left attacker Sharon Chepchumba was felt, he said:

“Yes we really missed her but I also think Loise Simiyu played a good game today.”

Munala said her team is ready for Olympics considering that all the departments are in good shape despite small final touches to be worked soon.

Captain Mercy Moim was over the moon after defeating Nigeria and urged her colleagues to work extra hard to defeat Congo in their last pool match.

"It was a very entertaining match and as Malkia we ensured we tackled their three most dangerous players early enough. By doing so we disabled them early and won the straight sets easily. Here we are taking each match at a time and we believe the coach will guide us well in our next game against Congo.
