Confirming the incident, Sololo OCPD Joseph Nthiga said that the marijuana, packed in 12 sacks and weighed 350 kilograms, was seized at around 9am on Monday morning while being ferried in a Land Cruiser.
"We have arrested the driver who is very young, just 27. We have impounded the car and the consignment which will be used as exhibit," he said.
On his part, Sololo Sub-county Deputy Commissioner Edward Goko, commended police officers for apprehending the smuggler, calling on the government to increase the number of reserve officers at the Kenya-Ethiopia border to bolster security.
The suspect was taken to hospital after injuring his leg and will be taken to custody after being discharged.
