Five bodies out of the 27 victims of the Nairobi floods have been
transported to West Pokot, Eldoret, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, and Mtito Andei by the
Sonko Rescue Team.
This follows a pledge by Sonko on Tuesday to clear pending morgue
bills, provide coffins, and facilitate transport for all victims of the floods
in Nairobi.
Sonko said the remaining 22 bodies will be transported once families
finalise burial arrangements in their respective rural homes.
The National Economic Development Party leader also urged leaders to set
aside their political differences and avoid politicising the flood tragedy,
instead calling for unity in addressing the flooding crisis and supporting
affected families.
“When I was governor, we made it a habit to unclog drainage to ease
flooding. Instead of leaders coming together to help, some are busy
politicising the issue. That is wrong. Let us come together and do what is
supposed to be done,” he said.
