Nakuru RFC’s Chrisant Ojwang has made a comeback to the national rugby sevens team, seven months after undergoing surgery following a nasty injury he suffered during the opening leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Dubai.

Ojwang was in scintillating form before suffering the devastating injury that kept him out for the whole season.

He will co-captain the Morans side alongside Strathmore Leos’ George Ooro in the Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens Cup slated for June 21st, 2025, to June 22nd, 2025.

The side which will be under the tutelage of Shujaa assistant coach Louis Kisia is mainly comprised of new faces such as Jackson Siketa, Philip Okeyo, Felix Okoth, Javan Otieno and Matoka Matoka who will all be looking to impress in order to punch their ticket to the main team, the Shujaa.

Experienced heads such as Dennis Abukuse and George Ooro will be crucial in guiding the team that comprises young talents such as Jackson Siketa, Felix Okoth, Javan Otieno, Matoka Matoka and Philip Okeyo

The Morans will be highly reliant on the explosive speed of KCB’s Floyd Wabwire as well as Kabras Sugar’s William Mwanji, who make few cameos in the main team throughout the World Sevens Series.

Brian Mutua and Lamec Ambetsa make up the rest of the squad that will be tasked to tackle neighbours Uganda, Ivory Coast and Ghana in pool A.

Pool B has South Africa, Burkina Faso, Zambia and Nigeria, with Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Tunisia and hosts Mauritius completing the lineup in Pool C
