A family in Tongaren Constituency, Bungoma County, is mourning after a 24-year-old man was allegedly killed by his 21-year-old brother following a dispute over a pair of gumboots.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening in Shivakala–Lusokho village, with the deceased identified as Joshua Wafula Furaha and the suspect as Davis Wanyonyi Furaha, according to family members.

Their mother, Doris Nanjala Furaha, said the deceased was stabbed several times in the head, neck and chest, causing heavy bleeding.

Family members described Joshua as hardworking and said he played a key role in supporting the household.

The incident was confirmed by Karima Sub-Location Assistant Chief Fred Wanyonyi Wang’ele, who said police officers from Makunga Police Station arrested the suspect.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Naitiri Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending investigations.
