Bungoma Queens head coach Godfrey Mabonga has
expressed satisfaction with his team’s recent progress in the FKF Women’s
Premier League, noting a marked improvement compared to their early-season
performances.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mabonga
credited the team’s
upward trajectory to better cohesion within the squad, particularly
highlighting how new signings have successfully integrated with the existing
players.
This growing understanding, he noted,
has enabled Bungoma Queens to adopt a more fluid and entertaining style of
play.
The tactician pointed to their latest
outing against Kenya Police Bullets as a clear example of the team’s
development.
Despite suffering defeat, Bungoma Queens
delivered an impressive display that underlined their steady progress.
With only five matches left before the
season concludes, Mabonga emphasized that his side is fully focused on securing
maximum points in their remaining fixtures.
"The team greatly improved, not
like at the beginning of the season. The new and old players have found
chemistry because looking at the game against Police, we lost to a good side
but the performance was much better."
To sharpen the team ahead of the crucial
run-in, he revealed plans to organize a series of friendly matches. These
preparations will be key as Bungoma Queens gear up for their next league
encounter against Zetech Sparks scheduled for next month.
Currently sitting eighth on the table
with 22 points, Bungoma Queens are aiming for a strong finish to the campaign,
with Mabonga confident that his side can maintain their upward momentum and
close the season on a high.
