Senior Counsel Charles Kanjama has promised to uphold the rule of law and serve the Law Society of Kenya with “courage and clarity” following his election as President.

In a statement issued after his election win on Thursday, Kanjama said the outcome reflected the clear will of the Society’s membership and signalled a renewed commitment to disciplined, steady leadership at the helm of the lawyers’ body.

“Today, the Law Society of Kenya has spoken clearly, firmly, and in numbers that leave no doubt about the direction it has chosen,” he said, adding that the vote affirmed the profession’s belief in accountable leadership and respect for the rule of law.

Kanjama noted that the results sent a strong message that the voice of members “cannot be bent by undue influence” and must always be respected, pledging to translate his campaign commitments into a clear governance framework ahead of formally assuming office in March.

He also expressed gratitude to his campaign team and the thousands of advocates who participated in the election, saying their support had given him an unequivocal mandate to lead.

“I look forward to working closely with the incoming Council to build a united and formidable leadership that will protect the membership, defend the rule of law, and serve this Society with courage and clarity over the next two years,” he said.

Kanjama further thanked the outgoing leadership for its stewardship, emphasising the importance of institutional continuity and orderly transition.
