Kenya’s leading television brand Citizen TV has partnered with telecommunications giant Airtel to introduce a singing reality competition television series dubbed The Voice Africa.

The show, a first of its kind on the continent, seeks to discover and grow musical talent in Africa. Viewers will be treated to thrilling performances as the region’s undiscovered talent showcases its prowess to the world.

“We promise our audiences great experiences, a great journey, and a great exposure of talent,” Royal Media Services Group Production Director Latifah Ngunjiri said.

Airtel Kenya Marketing Director Prisca Murigo, on her part, described the show as a transformational partnership that will help young Kenyans by nurturing and championing their musical talents.

“This is an opportunity for everyone who has a music dream to have an opportunity to express themselves to be recognised at a global scale and also build a career in music,” Ms Murigo said.

Auditions for The Voice Africa are ongoing until November 10.

To register, one will need to prepare a one-minute video of themselves singing, saved in mp4 format.

They will then log on to www.thevoice.africa, fill out the registration form and upload the video

Out of the applications from Kenya, seven candidates will be selected to represent the country in the program.

The winner of The Voice Africa will walk home with $100,000 (Ksh.12 million).

“Kenya has such great talent and this is the one season where we as Kenyans can stand up and show it to the continent. This is the first time in Africa that we are having a program at this scale,” Danice King’ori, Airtel Africa’s Media Lead said.
