The clergy in Kinangop have raised concerns over rising cases of alcoholism in the area.

In the latest incident, a woman walked into Engineer police station after a drinking spree and slept on the ground.

Alcoholism has been abused as a method of dealing with trials.

The woman woke up in the morning and made her way home after she had sobered up.

In a different incident in Kisii, a man set his house on fire after a night of heavy drinking.

He is said to have been depressed after losing his land to a financial institution as he was unable to service the facility.

Clerics have urged the police to help reform alcoholics by sensitising the public on the dangers of drinking.

They also called on the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to help sensitise the public on the dangers of alcoholism and other vices.
