The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum has assured Kenyans of adequate petroleum supplies despite escalating tensions in the Middle East, the region from which the country sources a significant portion of its fuel imports.

In a press statement issued on March 3, 2026, Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi said the government had reviewed the current stock and supply situation and confirmed that the country has sufficient petroleum products to meet both domestic and regional demand.

“As at today, the country has sufficient stocks to cover both the country and the region. We have scheduled imports for delivery up to end of April 2026 and, therefore, as it stands, we are assured of security of supply,” the statement reads

The assurance comes amid growing global concern over potential supply disruptions linked to instability in the Middle East, a key global oil-producing region.

The Ministry said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation and is engaging government-to-government (G-G) suppliers as part of contingency planning measures

Wandayi further reassured the public and industry stakeholders that the government remains vigilant and is taking necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products

The Ministry pledged to continue updating the country on any developments regarding the petroleum supply situation

The statement seeks to calm fears of possible fuel shortages and price volatility as geopolitical tensions continue to unfold in the Middle East.
