Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service Eliud Lagat has called on police officers to exercise professionalism and teamwork in combating crime, while consistently operating within the confines of the law.
Mr. Lagat made the remarks during an impromptu visit to Kayole Police Station, part of his ongoing efforts to assess service delivery, operational readiness, and the general welfare of officers across the country.
Upon arrival, he was received by the Kayole Deputy Sub-County Police Commander, Mr. Michael Agengo, ASP, who led him through a detailed tour of the station’s offices, cells, and general compound. The visit provided the DIG with a firsthand view of the station’s environment, ongoing challenges, and areas of progress.
In his address to officers, Mr. Lagat commended the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) and the entire Kayole police team for their dedication to duty. He underscored the importance of upholding the highest standards of conduct, noting that professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to the law remain central pillars in building an effective police service.
He further emphasised that public trust is earned through transparency, accountability, and consistent ethical behaviour, urging officers to strengthen their engagement with the community as a means of enhancing safety and cooperation.
Officers at the station expressed appreciation for the DIG’s visit, saying such unannounced engagements foster better communication between field officers and the top command. They noted that the visit served as both a morale boost and a reaffirmation of the DIG’s commitment to enhancing police service delivery nationwide.
Mr. Lagat was accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior commanders, including the Commandant of the General Service Unit, Mr. Ranson Lolmodooni, SAIG; the Nairobi Regional Police Commander, Mr. George Seda, AIG; the Nairobi APS Regional Commander, Mr. Peter Chemose, CP; the Commandant of the K9 Unit, Mr. Peter Mnyoto, CP; among other senior officers.
