Parmesh Venkateswaran, General Manager for Stanley Black & Decker, Middle East and Africa, made it clear: DEWALT isn’t just entering a new market—it’s investing in the future of African construction.
“We’re here not just to support projects, but to support people,” Venkateswaran said. “Our focus is on innovation, efficiency, and developing the skilled workforce that will build the Africa of tomorrow.”
The official launch in Nairobi introduced DEWALT’s latest innovations to the region, including the POWERSTACK™ battery platform, GRABO Suction Lifter, XR Concrete Nailer, and the POWERSHIFT™ battery system—each representing a step toward cleaner, cordless, and more efficient construction.
Umair Shahzad, Commercial Director for Stanley Black & Decker, emphasized the company’s long-term vision: “Our commitment to innovation is not just about creating new tools—it’s about empowering the builders of tomorrow across Africa.”
A key part of that empowerment is skills development. DEWALT is partnering with institutions like De Paul Technical Training Centre, a respected vocational school in Kenya, to equip students with practical training in carpentry and woodworking. The collaboration will ensure that local talent is ready to meet the growing demands of modern construction.
But DEWALT’s impact goes beyond tools and training—it’s also about changing the face of the industry.
That’s where BuildHer comes in.
Founded to empower women in the construction sector, BuildHer is working with DEWALT to train 300 women annually in technical construction skills. The initiative not only provides hands-on training but also aims to break long-standing gender barriers in the field.
Taku Gatere, CEO of BuildHer, captured the spirit of the partnership perfectly: “This collaboration is about more than just tools—it’s about rewriting the narrative. It’s about building a construction industry that includes everyone and reflects the full potential of our communities.”
As DEWALT establishes Kenya as its African hub, its mission is clear: drive innovation, elevate skills, and build a more inclusive future—one project, one partnership, and one empowered builder at a time.
