Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said that he will not attend the State of the Nation Address by President William Ruto, scheduled for today, November 9.

In a post on the X platform, the legislator outlined his reservations about the President's ability to present an accurate representation of the nation's current situation.

"Ruto cannot be trusted to paint the true picture of the State of the Nation which as you know is dire. I cannot sit quietly listening to lies." the post in part read.

Sifuna further underscored that Parliamentary standing orders dictate that the Head of State's address should be received in complete silence.

Given his concerns regarding potential misinformation, Sifuna voiced his reluctance to sit in attendance and silently endure what he perceives, as a disingenuous portrayal of the state of the nation.

Ruto will deliver his first ever State of the Nation address since taking power in September last year, where he will address a joint Parliamentary sitting of both the National Assembly and the Senate.
