Embu Senator Peter Njeru Ndwiga has ditched Kenya Kwanza coalition after losing in the UDA party primaries held last week.

Ndwiga now says he will defend his seat as an independent candidate in the upcoming August General Election.

In the nominations, Ndwiga garnered 19,062 votes against Deputy Governor David Kariuki's 27,000 votes.

He says that the primaries were mared by glaring irregularities.

Ndwiga adds that despite the party having prepared to conduct the primaries, the exercise ended up being  shambles.

Ndwiga said that due to the fact that a big number of Embu residents didn't vote thus he can be able to get more votes and win in polls.

The Senator who was initially in Jubilee says he does not regret ditching Jubilee since Embu County is more in Kenya Kwanza.
