Harambee Stars and Raków Częstochowa defender Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma has unveiled a nationwide initiative aimed at nurturing young football talent through the newly launched EMOF Kenya Inter-High Schools Football Tournament.

Spearheaded by his Erick Marcelo Ouma Foundation (EMOF), the tournament seeks to provide a professional platform for secondary school students across the country.

‎‎Set to kick off in the Western Region, where Oumas own football journey began, the competition will feature eight schools per edition, selected through a public voting process.

The matches will be played in a knockout format, culminating in the crowning of regional champions.

“This tournament reflects our vision of using sports as a tool for empowerment, education, and real opportunity for youth,” EMOF stated in a social media announcement.

“We want to create a self-sustaining generation of youth who are resilient, confident, and equipped with the skills to build successful futures.”

‎‎In addition to the competitive matches, the tournament will offer awards, trophies, and individual player recognitions, highlighting both team and personal achievements.

Ouma, a former Kakamega High School alumni, rose to fame at Gor Mahia in 2016 and has since built an impressive international career.

After stints in Georgia, Albania, and Sweden, most notably with AIK,he joined Polish top-flight side Raków Częstochowa in early 2024, where he has enjoyed a standout season.

‎‎The EMOF tournament combines Oumas passion for football and youth development, aiming to instill discipline, teamwork, and life skills in the next generation.

With the voting process for participating schools set to open soon, the first edition is expected to begin in the upcoming school term, marking a new era for grassroots football in Kenya.
