Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has slammed President William Ruto for solely selecting the IEBC chairperson and its commissioners against the NADCO report.

Speaking at Nzeluni area of Migwani ward in Mwingi West, Kitui County, during the burial of the Kariobangi North MCA, Joel Munuve, Kalonzo said he has written to the president and ODM Leader Raila Odinga on the move but has gotten no reply.

The former vice president said he is the remedy for a better country, asserting that even if President Ruto appointed himself as the IEBC chair, he will still send him home come the 2027 General Election.

“You cannot be a player and pick a referee. I have written to Ruto and Raila Odinga as a principal during NADCO, and I have not received any response. We are not going to allow this thing to be easy. But we have said, nevertheless, that we are ready! Ata Ruto mwenyewe akijifanya yeye ndio chairman wa IEBC, Ruto must go!” Kalonzo said.

“We are not afraid. Just as Donald Trump was announced as the US president, nobody knows who the people were in the US electoral body. We will announce in every polling station and will not need your IEBC, Kenyans will choose the leader themselves.”

Kalonzo added that the country must be rescued from the shackles of President Ruto, sentiments which were echoed by DAP-K party leader, Eugene Wamalwa.

“You have violated the principle of concurrence and consultation that underlie the Bomas process, and we want to tell you that we are ready for you nonetheless,” said Wamalwa.

Kalonzo further noted that the opposition is waiting on results from more samples sent abroad to ascertain the actual cause of the MCA's death, saying they will not allow political assassinations.

Munuve passed on April 22, 2025, and an autopsy revealed that he died from a blood clot.
