Families of Kenyans duped into Russian army want state to fasten repatriation plans

The relatives of the victims at the centre of what now turns out to be a syndicate noted that their constant pleas to the relevant agencies have fallen on deaf ears.

Data from the National Intelligence Service (NIS), which was tabled in parliament by the leader of the majority, Kimani Ichungwa on Wednesday indicated that more than 1000 Kenyans were duped to enlist as fighters for Russian army. 

The families want the government to intensify diplomatic engagement with foreign authorities to enable the safe rescue of those detained in Russia.

They asked the state to crack the whip and deal with the agencies involved in the recruitment syndicate.

The affected families, who were set to hold a peaceful march to the Russian embassy, rescheduled the exercise after the police failed to clear them, citing a short notice.
