Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a 49-year-old man and his 23-year-old son on suspicion of conning unsuspecting M-Pesa operators.

According to the DCI, Peter Mwendwa Musyoka and his son, Dennis Musyoka, were arrested at their hideout in Komarock’s Nyama Villa estate after detectives traced their digital footprints that linked them to a Ksh.236,000 M-Pesa scam carried out on September 2, 2025, at Gikomba Market.

Upon searching the premises, the detectives recovered used and unused SIM cards, ID cards, agent and paybill numbers from Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom, as well as laptops and smartphones believed to have been used in the scheme.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the father, believed to be the mastermind, introduced his son to the fraudulent scheme as part of a broader syndicate targeting mobile money dealers.

The duo was taken into custody, processed and is awaiting arraignment to answer for fraud charges.
