Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to stabilising and strengthening the second tier league following a courtesy visit to Mully Children’s Family in Machakos County.

Accompanied by NEC members Charles Njagi, Ahmedqadar Mohammed and Branch Chairman Abdi Noor, the FKF President was hosted by Charles Mutua Mully at the expansive children’s home, which currently cares for over 8,000 orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children.

More than 35,000 children have been rehabilitated through the institution, with access to education, healthcare and mentorship forming the foundation of its mission.

The visit came against the backdrop of the recent withdrawal of Mully Children's Family FC from the Football Kenya Federation National Super League midway through the 2025/2026 season due to financial constraints.

Having played 50 percent of its fixtures, FKF upheld the club’s first leg results while nullifying the remaining matches. The squad was disbanded, with management committing to compensate players with two months’ salary.

Addressing the challenges facing the NSL, Hussein Mohammed pledged urgent intervention to ease the financial strain burdening clubs across the country.

“The situation in the National Super League requires deliberate and immediate action. As FKF, we are working diligently to secure credible sponsorship that will guarantee financial stability for our clubs,” he said.

He added that the federation is exploring broader structural reforms to safeguard player welfare and operational sustainability.

“We cannot allow our young talents to suffer because of financial instability. We are committed to putting in place sustainable frameworks that will support clubs in meeting their day to day obligations.”

On MCF FC’s withdrawal, the FKF President acknowledged the institution’s contribution to nurturing talent and assured them of continued support.

“MCF FC has demonstrated how football can transform lives. We will seek alternative ways to support all NSL clubs, including MCF FC, so that the dreams and aspirations of these young athletes remain alive.”

The FKF delegation also commended Mully and his team for blending humanitarian service with sports development, terming their work a powerful example of football’s role beyond the pitch.
