Embu County Deputy Governor, Dorothy Nditi, has accused county governments of having misplaced priorities – an issue that’s she says is crippling the core essence of devolution.

Speaking Friday in Embu County, Nditi said that the electorate is yet to taste the fruits of devolution as their leaders prize personal gains over county development.

“Senior County officers are riding 4 by 4 vehicles to escape the muddy roads that they have neglected,” noted Nditi.

The deputy governor has therefore urged county officials to focus on the welfare of Kenyans and channel money meant for counties to development projects.

“With proper priorities, counties can save cash spent on luxusries –k moneys that could be channeled to other areas which are beneficial to the electorate,” she asserted.

Nditi asked leaders to focus on public service, not just getting more money for themselves.
