Dave Munya Mwangi, a former Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Internal Security, has been charged in connection with a Ksh.350 million land fraud case.

Mwangi, who was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts, is accused of fraudulently acquiring a 1.591-hectare parcel of land along Mombasa Road and forging the property's title with the help of accomplices at the Ministry of Lands.

"The arrest and subsequent arraignment of the accused followed a meticulous investigation by the DCI Land Fraud Investigators, who probed into a complaint lodged by the devastated victim," the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said in a statement.

"In the case, the accused had jointly with two others - Sammy Louis Karanja and Moses Ojuka (former employee at the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning) - forged documents of a 1.591Ha parcel of land into the names of companies owned by Mwangi Munya, before leasing the same to a Chinese company at Ksh.12 million."

The trio was subsequently charged with three counts of conspiracy to defraud, uttering a false document and forgery of a title.

Mwangi, who was acquitted in the multi-billion shilling Anglo-Leasing scam, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

"Dave Munya Mwangi, the Director Olbolsat Farm Limited  was arrested and arraigned at Milimani Law Courts, where he took a plea of not guilty and was slapped with a bond of Ksh.20 million with the alternative of a cash bail of Ksh.5 million," said the DCI.

Police are currently tracking his two accomplices whose whereabouts remain unknown.
