Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, has now been charged with treason moments after he was released from military custody.

On Thursday, Gulu Grade 1 Magistrate Yunus Ndiwalana ordered that Bobi Wine be remanded until August 30.

Earlier, the military court had released him after dropping charges of illegal possession of firearms.

President Yoweri Museveni’s convoy was also seen passing outside the military court as the case was being heard.

Despite being released, Bobi Wine was rearrested a few minutes later outside the General Court Martial and taken to Gulu Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with treason.

Opposition leader Kizza Besigye has also been arrested after he tried leaving his home that was surrounded by Uganda police and military.
