Gachagua's DCP party unveils candidate for Magarini by-election

The former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua-led Democracy for
the Citizens Party (DCP) has settled on Furaha Chengo Ngumbao as its candidate
in the upcoming Magarini Constituency by-election.
Ngumbao received the party’s nomination certificate on
Thursday from Secretary General Hezron Obaga on Thursday, who expressed
confidence in his candidature.
The Magarini seat in Kilifi County fell vacant after the court
annulled the 2022 Parliamentary election results following a petition.
DCP previously announced that it had dropped its candidacy in three elective positions ahead of the national by-elections
scheduled for November 27.
The party noted that in the
spirit of fairness and unity within the United Opposition, it will not contest in Muumbini Ward, Makueni County in
support of the Wiper Patriotic Front led by Kalonzo Musyoka.
DCP also resolved to halt
candidacy in Kabuchai/ Chwele ward,
Bungoma County, in support of Eugene Wamalwa's Democratic Action Party of Kenya
(DAP-K)
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is
expected to conduct 24 by-elections, and has set the campaign period from
Wednesday, October 8, to Monday, November 24, between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm each
day.
