Police officers in Garissa have arrested four suspects and rescued two children who were reportedly abducted while on their way to Islamic lessons.

According to an incident report seen by Citizen Digital, Surura Hire reported to Garissa Police Station at around 10am that his two grandchildren, aged 10 and 7, had left home for their regular Islamic lessons, Dukis, at a location approximately 2 kilometers away.

“Information later received was that the children were seen being forced into a Black Land cruiser Prado car KDL 171S to an unknown direction,” read the report.

Police officers responded quickly and successfully intercepted the vehicle at a roadblock in Garsen, in the neighboring Tana River County.

The children were found alongside four other occupants in the vehicle, who are currently being held in police custody.

The four include; 42-year-old Australian male Ibrahim Saeed Same, 23-year-old Somali male Ali Ada Kuno, 25-year-old Somali male Khalid Abdullahi Mohammed, and Malyun Kassim Hussein (35-year-old female).
