Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir on Wednesday revealed that the Coastal county is presently facing a
water crisis.
Governor Nassir, speaking
during a press address at his office, said climate change and water supply
reduction are some of the causes of the shortage crisis.
“The problem that we are
currently facing, is that we do not have enough supply [of water],” he noted.
The county boss went ahead to
assure Mombasa residents that he will soon have a sit-down with the Ministry of
Water in the national government in a bid to figure a way out of the crisis
that he says has overwhelmed the county government.
“I’ll be sitting down with the
water department as well....there are some things that are beyond Mombasa County,”
said Governor Nassir.
Concerning the heavy rains
being experienced in parts of the country, the Governor said that through youth
foundations, he has put in place measures for water reservation, adding that he
is also working on revamping dams within the county.
Additionally, Governor Nassir called
upon the people of Mombasa to observe personal hygiene by washing their hands
often, and making good use of the hospitals and health facilities at the
slightest scare.
