The High Court in Nyeri on Friday February 2,  upheld the election of Rigathi Gachagua as Mathira Member of Parliament.

The ruling follows a petition filed by a voter who sought to have his election nullified on grounds that the August 8 election was marred by massive irregularities and illegalities.

In his ruling, Justice Jairus Ng’aa however ruled that the petitioner did not provide sufficient evidence to prove that the legislator was not duly elected.

“I find that the Mathira parliamentary election held on August 8, 2017 was free, fair and transparent. It was conducted in full compliance with the law,” ruled Justice Ng’aa.

Speaking after the ruling, Gachagua vowed to deliver on his pre-election promises.
