The actors are part of a global campaign dubbed #KenyaHomeofHumankind spearheaded by Magical Kenya and Swahili Village which aims to showcase Kenya's unique beauty, diversity and welcoming spirit.
Gbenga and Anika, who have starred in some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters over the years, have and will be visiting wildlife sanctuaries and community-led conservation projects witnessing firsthand the impact of these initiatives on the preservation of Kenya's natural heritage.
While embracing Kenya's natural splendour, the celebrity ambassadors plan to immerse themselves in the heart of Kenya's diverse landscapes, from the majestic peaks of Mount Kenya to the pristine beaches of Diani.
They will also explore the vast savannas of the Maasai Mara and venture into the lush rainforests of the Aberdare National Park, where waterfalls cascade and exotic wildlife thrive.
Along the way, they will also capture the essence of Kenya's natural splendour, highlighting its role as a haven for biodiversity and a treasure trove of natural wonders while also engaging with local communities, experiencing their traditions, customs, and vibrant art forms, witnessing the rhythmic beats of traditional dances, learning the art of Maasai beading, and savouring the tantalizing flavours of Kenyan cuisine.
"Through their captivating experiences, our Swahilimedia celebrity ambassadors will extend a warm invitation to North American tourists to rediscover Kenya, a land that has captivated travellers for centuries. They will also encourage visitors to embrace Kenya's natural beauty, cultural richness, and conservation ethos, creating memories that will last a lifetime," a statement from Swahili Media said.
"Together, we will amplify the message #KenyaHomeofHumanKind, inspiring a renewed sense of connection with this extraordinary nation."
A consummate actor, Gbenga has enjoyed much success in studio feature films such as the Oscar-nominated film “The Savages” directed by Tamara Jenkins with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Laura Linney, and Philip Bosco.
He also appeared in the Tony Scott-directed remake of “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3” with Hollywood legends Denzel Washington and John Travolta.
Gbenga can often be seen as a frequent guest on Huff Post Live and Al Jazeera where he speaks on social justice issues.
Most recently he launched, “Liberated People”, an eco-friendly socially conscious lifestyle brand, which works with nonprofits around the world.
On her part, Anika Noni Rose is best known for voicing Tiana, Disney's first African-American princess, in 'The Princess and the Frog' (2009). She was also named a Disney Legend in 2011.
Swahili Media's overall mission is to conceptualize a new global campaign framework that captures the essence of Kenya as a welcoming destination for North American tourists.
