A Homa Bay County government employee has been stabbed to death inside a bar by his wife after they differed while taking alcohol together.

The deceased, Charles Okoth Onyango, was killed by his wife, Cyndy Okoth, using a kitchen knife after a bitter exchange of words between the two.

The wife is reported to have joined her husband at the drinking den circa mid-day and later picked a quarrel with him after becoming drunk.

According to Homa Bay Town location Chief Joshua Ochogo, the wife was demanding that her husband hand over his mobile phone to her so she could go through his text messages but he refused.

Ochogo says this triggered the wife, who was armed with a knife, and she stabbed him on the chest killing him instantly.

The administrator said the body of the 31-year-old man has since been taken to the Homa Bay County morgue.

Homa Bay sub-county Police Commander Sammy Koskeyi confirmed that the deceased’s wife has been arrested as investigations continue.
