'I am very proud of you,' Ruto tells Kenya Kwanza MPs over their track record

Speaking on Monday during the launch of a parliamentary group meeting in Naivasha, Ruto expressed his appreciation to the team, saying that their patience and determination are already paying off through several successful government programs.

“I want to stand here proudly to say to the Kenya Kwanza team, I am very, very proud of you. I know I took many of you through very difficult decision-making journeys. You remember the difficult meeting we had on housing, on implementing health, on making sure we had a new formula to fund our education?," he paused.

"And I remember telling you then that it is not necessary to be popular all the time. The bible says their is a time for everything. Today we have a track record that is second to none," added Ruto. 

According to Ruto, collaboration between the Kenya Kwanza Government and Azimio propelled the implementation of the government's plans, which he attributed to disagreements between the two political factions.

During his speech, Ruto acknowledged the broad-based team as a family, noting that 4 years ago, they were serious competitors who went to the elections with different plans but converging manifestos.

He revealed that the Late Prime Minister Raila Odinga had engaged with him on several occasions towards housing, universal health coverage and many of his projects before his demise.

Ruto believes that political players are citizens of one nation despite their political inclinations. He urged all leaders to take into account the impacts of their activities on the nation, as their main goal is to propel the country forward.

“Whatever different points of view that we have, ultimately we must have it at the back of our minds that we have a nation to look after,  and every leader respective of the side that you belong to, must understand that the well-being of the Kenyan People, is dependent on us as leaders as we take the country forward,” he advised.

Ruto described the meeting as a consequential one which would yield hybrid ideas which he believes would facilitate the amalgamation of plans carried broadly by the Orange Democratic Movement and that of Kenya Kwanza.

The Head of State called on the broad-based team to make effective decisions during the meeting that will influence how Kenya moves into the future, saying the nation depends to a large extent on them.
