Jubilee Presidential Flagbearer Fred Matiang'i has sharply criticized what he termed as historic wastage of public resources, especially the growing budget for State House.

Matiang’i has labelled the budgetary allocations as a symbol of misplaced government priorities.

"We are suffering from historic wastage of public resources, unprecedented. I have never seen things like this we are seeing. They say this year's budget allocates Ksh. 17 billion to State House,” he said.

Speaking during a church event in Murang’a County, Matiang’i questioned why the presidency requires significantly more funding than critical national institutions such as the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).

“I am asking myself this: How can the State House need more money than Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital? State House is not a referral hospital; there is no surgery being done there, no babies are being born there, and no kidney transplant done at State House. Why do you need Ksh.17 billion?” he told congregants at Weithaga ACK Church in Murang’a County.

He argued that the country cannot justify expanding State House allocations while key public sectors struggle.

Matiang’i claimed that the increased budgetary allocations are to facilitate bribery during the 2027 general election.

The presidential contender argued that if elected president, he would cut down the budget allocations for the State House.

“This is when I say… give me that job and see. I will cut that budget by 80%. 7 billion will go to education, Ksh. 7 billion to the health sector. State House will remain with Ksh. 3 billion and I might even return a billion by the end of the year,” he said.

The former Interior Cabinet Secretary also dispelled reports that there are divisions in the United Opposition political camp. According to him, the naysayers have been ‘shaken’ by the opposition’s influence.

“They are shaking, they have tried to divide us… they were thinking that we would never work together. I have bad news for you. We are going to work together,” he said.
