AFC Leopards goalkeeper Tom Ikara was the hero in Embu, saving a second-half penalty to earn Ingwe a point in a goalless draw against 3K FC, as Mara Sugar handed Migori Youth their first defeat of the 2026/27 Kenyan Premier League season with a 2-1 victory in Narok.

At Moi Stadium, 3K had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the second half after Glen Githinji was brought down in the penalty area. However, Ikara guessed correctly to deny the forward from the spot and preserve the deadlock.

The hosts had threatened early through Sally Ally, whose effort struck the woodwork, while goalkeeper Edwin Simiyu kept Ingwe at bay with several important saves.

AFC Leopards also created opportunities through Tyson Otieno and James Kinyanjui but could not find a breakthrough.

The result extended Leopards' unbeaten start to six matches, although it was another missed opportunity to close the gap on the league leaders. Ingwe moved to 10 points, while 3K also took their tally to nine.

3K were left frustrated by the outcome, with the club taking to social media after the match to suggest that their opponents had survived rather than earned the draw.

Meanwhile, Mara Sugar claimed local bragging rights with a 2-1 victory over Migori Youth at William Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok.

The Millers made a fast start, scoring in the third minute before Migori Youth restored parity from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute.

Mara Sugar struck again in the 34th minute to take a 2-1 lead into the break, which they held on to secure all three points.

The defeat ended Migori Youth's unbeaten start to the campaign, while Mara Sugar moved to nine points from six matches, strengthening their position in the upper half of the standings. Migori remained on six points.

“We had bad luck today. My boys played really well, and dominated the game from start to finish. We conceded two quick first half goals which disoriented the boys,” said Salim Babu, Migori Youth coach.

The two results leave the race near the top of the table finely poised, with KCB leading on 13 points, followed by Gor Mahia on 12 and AFC Leopards on 10.
