Speaking to Citizen Digital shortly after being appointed to take charge following the dismissal of head coach Mohammed Borji, Siwa expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness and fighting spirit.
“It’s not the first time I’m being asked to lead a big team,” Siwa said, recalling his experience at Tanzanian giants Yanga SC. “I once coached them in front of 50,000 fans and we brought home a trophy. So there’s no pressure—we’re ready for the Gor Mahia encounter.”
Team captain Andrew Juma echoed his coach’s optimism, insisting that despite the turmoil that has rocked the club in recent days, the players remain focused and determined.
“We must give our best because we’ve gone several matches without a win,” Juma said. “A lot has happened this week, but as players, we’re not distracted. We respect Gor—they’re a big team—but we are well prepared to fight for maximum points. We’re not in a good position on the table, and we need this win.”
Gor have lost their last two matches consecutively, 4-1 against APS Bomet and 1-0 against eternal rivals AFC Leopards.
Bandari’s CEO, Tony Kibwana, described the recent shake-up within the club’s technical unit as a necessary step to restore stability and winning momentum.
“Yes, we’ve made changes in the team’s leadership, and I believe they will bring positive results going forward,” Kibwana noted.
“We have professional players who are used to such transitions. They won’t be affected by what has happened. Our full focus is on securing three points against Gor Mahia here at Mbaraki.”
Bandari FC recently disbanded its management board and parted ways with coach Borji and his assistant Tarik Bendamou after only two months in charge, following a string of poor results.
