Isiolo County Assembly Speaker Mohammed Roba has said Governor Abdi Guyo should face the law over the alleged kidnapping and assault of a former Chief Officer.

Roba has called on the government to be more accountable in the case involving the Governor, who is accused of kidnapping and injuring former Health Chief Officer Abdirahaman Mohamed.

On September 5, the Director of Public Prosecutions ordered the arrest of Guyo, alongside seven others, over alleged involvement in kidnapping and robbery with violence.

Governor Guyo and his supporters allegedly stormed the venue of a meeting in August, where they forcibly disarmed and attacked Abdirahaman before bundling him into a vehicle and kidnapping him.

Speaking in Garsen, Tana River County on Monday, Speaker Roba criticized authorities for not implementing the arrest directive given by DPP.

“My message is to president William Ruto when we started impeachment process of the governor, he followed us to Maanzoni and abducted his former Chief Officer Abdirahman Mohamed," Roba stated.

“The DCI did their work and shared the file with the DPP for the arrest of the embattled governor together with the seven others,” lamented Roba.

He now calls upon President William Ruto to intervene.

“We know you have the capacity to act Mr. President and now we humbly ask you to intervene so that the former Chief Officer gets justice that he deserves,” said the Speaker.
