Eng. John Okunga Okango, who was nominated for the position of Kenyan ambassador to Korea, has turned down the job offer.
He becomes the second person to decline the Korea assignment after Abdikadir Mohamed, the president’s former legal advisor.
Mr. Okango was set to appear before the vetting committee on Monday but said he had serious issues to attend to.
He informed the National Assembly’s Defence and Foreign Relations Committee of his decision in a written letter which was later communicated by Chairman Katoo Ole Metito.
The move by the former Director General of Rural Roads Authority now leaves only four nominees to be vetted for the ambassadorial post.
