Kabogo: It's now clear Wajackoyah is the third horse in August race

Kiambu Gubernatorial candidate William Kabogo says the entry of Roots Party leader Prof. George Wajackoyah in the August race to State House has changed the dynamics of what was once called a 'two-horse’ race.

According to Kabogo who is the Tujibebe Wakenya party leader, Prof. Wajackoyah is a third ‘horse’ alongside Deputy President William Ruto and Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga in the quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“One week is like ten years in politics. We are seeing a lot of changes as the election approaches. Before, the horses were two but now you cannot say it's a two horse race,” Kabogo said in a Monday interview with NTV.

“Right now we are looking at three horses."

Kabogo said Wajackoyah’s support across the central region is starting to take shape and cannot be ignored.

“I was campaigning in Kiambu and I can tell there are people who will vote for Raila, others Ruto and now Wajackoyah. At the sole mention of his name, you can sense something in the crowds, and you cannot turn a blind eye on that,” he added.

Wajackoyah’s bid has been enjoying increased popularity among younger voters nationwide, partly due to his plan to legalise bhang should he win the presidency.

According to the Roots party leader, marijuana farming will have economic benefits in offsetting the country’s debt.

Wajackoyah is facing DP Ruto, Mr. Odinga, and Agano Party leader David Mwaure Waihiga in the August 9 contest.
