Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested a Kajiado County Enforcement Officer for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe of Ksh.10,000 to authorise the repair of a sewage line.
The suspect, identified as Mr Noah Kitisia Katei, is alleged to
have stopped repair works being undertaken by the complainant at his workplace
and demanded money to allow the repairs to continue.
According to the EACC, the complainant reported the incident, after which the Commission subsequently conducted an operation that led to his
arrest.
Katei was then escorted to the Integrity Centre for processing
and statement recording.
The suspect has since been released on a police bond of Ksh.20,000
pending the conclusion of investigations.
The anti-graft body has since reassured the public that it has
stepped up its efforts through an ongoing crackdown on bribery within public
service delivery, which it says will help restore public confidence and
enhance efficient service delivery for all Kenyans.
