The National Rainbow Coalition (Narc) Kenya leader Martha Karua has lashed out at the government for failing to disclose details of the Kenya-Uganda sugar deal, which has occasioned a violet verbal exchange between Deputy President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Karua, who unsuccessfully contested for the presidency in 2013, said that scanty details on the deal have allowed politics to take center-stage thus hurting Kenyans and the government itself.

Initially, the Deputy President had accused Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga of being used by sugar barons to push him out of the Agriculture Ministry in the grand coalition governemt.

According to Karua, Ruto was sacked from the Cabinet for failing the integrity test as per the Constitution of Kenya.

“Back then I was a member of the backbench in Parliament and we raised the issues of integrity against Ruto as he was facing a fraud case regarding a land parcel,” said Karua.

The Deputy President had then been accused of receiving money from the Kenya Pipeline Corporation in exchange of a land parcel that never existed.

Karua has been closely working with the opposition coalition CORD although she has not declared intentions of linking up ahead of the 2017 General Elections.

She sided with opposition leaders who argue that the deal may see the Kenyan market flooded by illegal sugar thereby hurting farmers
