KCSE candidate dies after falling into dam during a photo session

A KCSE candidate at St Martin Wendano Secondary School in Matungulu, Machakos County died on Friday afternoon after sitting his last examination paper.
The boy is reported to have drowned in a dam near the school where they had gone for an adventure together with his fellow students following the completion of their final test.
Confirming the incident, Matuu Sub-location Assistant Chief Raphael Musyoki said the student slid and fell into the dam during a photo session.
A rescue and search mission for the boy’s body bore no fruit, with the exercise which was led by well-wishers being called off at around 6.30 pm due to darkness.
The operation to retrieve the body will resume on Saturday.
