Mwamba RFC’s key player Naomi Jelagat, is gearing up for an intense season as the team chases a historic four-peat in the Kenya Cup.

Mwamba RFC will kick off their campaign this Saturday, November 29, with an away clash against Impala at the Impala Club on Ngong Road.

“Going for a four-peat is a massive challenge and an opportunity we don’t take lightly. For me, it’s a reminder of how far I’ve come and how much responsibility I carry for the badge,” Jelagat said.

“For the team, it represents continuity, keeping the standards high and maintaining the winning mentality that defines Mwamba.

"We know every team will be targeting us, so this season is about staying grounded, working harder and smart.”

The squad heads into the opener with focus and determination, knowing the importance of setting the tone early.

“We have to stay disciplined, stick to our structures, and manage the game with maturity.

"Impala is a tough side, especially at home, but if we control the physicality and remain patient in our execution, we’ll put ourselves in a good position to get the result.”

Jelagat, who was recently part of the Kenya Lionesses squad that finished second at the 2025 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup in Madagascar, is looking to elevate her game this season.

“I want to be more influential in the small details like reading the game better, making smarter choices, and being more efficient in both attack and defence.

"I also want to be more vocal, guiding the team where I can. For the younger players, I hope to create an environment where they feel confident to express themselves,” she said.

As Mwamba RFC embarks on this season, all eyes will be on Jelagat and her teammates as they aim to continue their legacy of excellence and carve out history with a fourth consecutive title.
