The Oilers showed their intent from the onset, thumping the army women 25-09 in the first set before spanking them ruthlessly 25-14 and 25-05 in the subsequent sets.
Head coach Geoffrey Omondi said the win was massive in setting their tone of the season.
“I’m happy for the three points we’ve bagged today. The win gives us confidence that we’ve started on a good note as we ended the previous season.”
The Malkia Strikers coach was also impressed with the overall display of his girls with the team being in transition.
Familiar faces in Agrippina Kundu, Leonidah Kasaya and Trizah Atuka were missing in Pipeline’s starting lineup but their replacements Celestine Nafula, Milka Akinyi and Marian Sokoiyo slotted in perfectly.
However, Omondi revealed their muscles will be tested against perennial rivals Kenya Prisons when the two sides clash in a pulsating clash on Saturday.
“Prisons is a senior team with experienced players. It will be a tough match and we will have to react with the way they will come tomorrow. We are ready for the clash,” Omondi added.
Kenya Army on the other side will be looking to redeem themselves against Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) when the two sides clash on Saturday.
Earlier, DCI dismissed Nairobi Prisons in straight sets as KDF dominated new-bies A-Plus Volleyball Club in a similar fashion.
Postbank also dominated newcomers Kenyatta University in straight sets.
