The national men's hockey team will battle against Zambia later Thursday for the bronze medal at the ongoing African World Cup men and women five-a-side qualifiers in Ismailia, Egypt.

Victory will see the Kenyans, dubbed Chui, secure a slot for the inaugural edition of the FIH Hockey5s World Cup Oman 2024.

Chui finished fourth in the standings after wrapping their group stage action with a 3-2 victory over African hockey giants South Africa on Tuesday.

Egypt and Nigeria, who finished first and second respectively, will battle it out for the gold honours.

South Africa finished bottom of the five-team nations after managing just one point.

The Kenyan women’s team finished last in the group phase and are out of contention.

South African women will face Egypt for the bronze medal while Zambia tackles Namibia for the gold medal.

This was the first time the Africa Hockey Federation (AfHF) staged a senior’s five-a-side qualification event.
