Kenyan boxers clinching multiple gold medals in front of a vibrant home crowd at the Africa Zone 3 Boxing Championships at Kasarani Indoor Arena on Friday.

The championship lit up Kasarani with thrilling bouts as Kenyan pugilists asserted their dominance in the ring.

Silas Onyango led the medal charge, clinching gold in the men’s light flyweight category after an intense fight against Congo’s Mayala Tsimba, who settled for silver.

In the women’s bantamweight, Amina Martha brought home Kenya’s second gold after outclassing Tanzanian Zulfa Yusuf in a gripping final.

Veronica Mbithe added another golden moment for Team Kenya, winning the women’s light flyweight bout against Uganda’s Muduwa Brenda.

Despite brave performances, several Kenyan fighters narrowly missed the top podium.

Captain Elizabeth Andiego fought gallantly but lost by a 2:3 split decision to Congo’s Mwamba Lulua in the women’s middleweight final, settling for silver.

Cynthia Mwai also took silver after falling to Congolese boxer Mbalayi Mbamba in the women’s light welterweight category.

Meanwhile, Emily Juma, who was set to fight for gold had to abandon her bout due to illness, automatically securing silver as Congo’s Munga Zalia was awarded the top honours.

The tournament continues to showcase the depth of talent across East and Central Africa, with Kenya making a strong case as a regional boxing powerhouse.
