The Kenyan wheelchair tennis team arrived safely in Turkey late last night to participate at the 2022 BNP Paribas World Team Cup Qualification event scheduled for March 17-21 at the Megasary Tennis Academy in Antalya.

Their departure followed a one-month training camp at Nairobi Club Grounds under head coach Lawrence Karanja.

“I am confident that we will achieve the best results in Turkey and also strengthen our hopes of qualifying for the Olympics.

"The training has been really productive and the players have gone through all the paces that we could have gone through and I think they are very well prepared now than they have ever been.” Karanja said.

His sentiments were echoed by the captain Jane Ndenga who said the team had the best preparation.

“Truth be told, the grounds we used for training were the best and the federation and coaches did a great job in securing this place for our training.

"We do not know anything about the kind of opposition we will face in Turkey, we expect the event to be competitive because every team wants to go to Portugal, but we are confident of pulling good results,” Jane said.

During last year's tournament in Vilamoura, Portugal, the men’s team reached the quarter-finals while the ladies' side went a step further to reach the last four.
