Kenya's veteran runner Eliud Kipchoge will return to Bangkok on Sunday, 30 November, to run the 10km race at the Amazing Thailand Road Race.

The marathon legend last competed over 10km more than ten years ago. His personal best stands at 28:11, set in 2009 in the Netherlands, while his last official 10km outing was in 2014 when he finished second in Castelbuono, Italy.

Kipchoge will run as part of his ambassadorial role for the event. Last year, he also joined more than 35,000 participants in Bangkok, staying true to his mission of motivating and inspiring runners. The 41-year-old is also Thailand’s Tourism, Sports, and Cultural Ambassador.

On Instagram, Kipchoge said he enjoyed the cultural experience and meeting people from different backgrounds. He described running the 10km alongside the Queen and passing iconic landmarks as a special moment, adding, “Thailand is truly amazing.”

Kipchoge confirmed he is already back in Asia and in Thailand, noting that he had some engagements to handle in Bangkok.

“Thailand, it’s good to be back. Next stop: Bangkok!” the five-time Berlin Marathon champion shared on his Facebook page.

He returns to action a month after finishing 17th at the New York City Marathon, as he keeps pushing his goal of running across all continents.

“I want to sell a new story that I don’t always need to run very fast,” he said.
“What I also want is to show young people that you can still push limits and run more marathons.”
