Kipng’eno, Jebet win Nandi Mountain Run titles

Kipng’eno, the reigning World Mountain and Trail Running champion, won the men’s race in 56:21:51 ahead of Josephat Kiprotich (57:22:38) and Hillary Maiyo (57:36:09).
Former Olympic Games 3,000m steepelchase champion Jebet was victorious in the women’s event after clocking 1:09:05. Bornness Kitur came second in a time of 1:09:47 while Ruth Chepkemboi was third in 1:12:5.
Competitors navigated a mountainous terrain and covered a 12-kilometer course starting at Lelgotet and ended in Kimatkei, Tinderet constituency.
After his win, Kipngen who trains in Naivasha revealed he will defend his world title in Austria later June.
The competition also featured 6km events for Under-20 men and women, 4km races for Under-18 boys and girls as well as 2km races for veterans.
Winners of the senior category each pocketed Sh100,000.
