Kisii police arrest 15 youth amid rising gang attacks

Days after Kisii residents raised alarm over the rising of a gang within the town and its environs, police in a special operation arrested 15 youth with crude weapons believed to be used to commit various crime across various estates.

Confirming the arrests, Kitutu Central Police Commander Kazungu Charo said an operation involving a multi-agency team is bearing fruit after major arrests were made in the areas widely mentioned to experience security lapses especially at night.

Some of the suspected members of the dreaded gang were found in possession of machetes, knives, steel rodes among other assortment of weapons.

This comes barely 72 hours after Citizen TV highlighted the plight of locals in the hands of an emerging gang within the town where one was confirmed dead as scores left with life-threatening injuries.

Reports about the existence of the violent youth gang first emerged on social media, before residents began confirming that the threat was real and unfolding right in their midst.

Images seen by Citizen TV told a painful story. They showed some of the young men who narrowly escaped death at the hands of the gang.

Deep machete cuts, stab wounds and severe injuries are visible on their heads and bodies. One young man was confirmed dead following these vicious attacks in Jogoo area.
